Cthulhu’s freshman roommate is incredibly loosely based on a floormate and later roommate of mine. I didn’t borrow much; mostly just his basic appearance and the fact that he had strong faith without being closed-minded or hypercritical of other beliefs and perspectives.
Speaking of perspective, the backgrounds here are based on actual Rose locations: by the dock on Speed Lake, the freshman dorm rooms, and the Eternal White Void behind the library, which you can see in the second panel. I also notice that the third panel depicts a two-person room in appropriate scale: as if built for ten-foot tall people who like tiny chairs.
