- Purdue is a sort of rival of Rose-Hulman, by which I mean we joked about how bad of a school they were and they didn’t know we existed. I’m not sure where it all started, except that they’re an engineering school in the same state that’s about 10 times the size of Rose.
- Senior laptop
- Every student at Rose must buy a certain model of laptop, for use in the classroom. Each year’s laptop is standardized, to simplify support and application setup. This means that by the time you become a senior, your laptop is beat-up, clogged with files, and three years out of date. Mine had a cracked case, was on its third screen, its second power board, and couldn’t run any recent games. And then it got stolen a year after I graduated. Farewell, Sylvia. I loved you.
Stolen a year after you graduated? What kind of moron steals a 5 year old Laptop? Also for the record, my nearly 10 year old Acer still works. I’ve got it running Ubuntu…mostly for amusement value as I don’t ever use it.
